Brands Hatch race report 2To cut a long story short, with only a small amount of track time allowed for qualifying and an inversely proportional 33 cars on track I decided to keep pounding round rather than heading for the pit lane. The problem with handling issues is that they have a habit of being very time consuming to find the cause of let alone to cure! I was therefore not too disappointed to have qualified in 8th position, less than a second from pole with a best lap time of 59.54 seconds. A post qualifying car health check (driver feeling like he needed one too) would leave me disappointed however…The aforementioned health check revealed a split seal on the right front damper, leaving it devoid of the fluid it needed to do it’s intended job. Good news – problem found, very bad news – no spare! The race was going to have to be tackled with the damper effectively locked solid!
