Mallory Park race report 3After driving the first lap at a steady pace to check that all felt as it should (which amazingly it did) I spent the remainder of the race charging my way though the field. It was great fun and very clean, apart from one love tap from another car, which this time put a dent in the passenger side door! By the finish I had made my way up to 10th overall and 4th in class, a feat that was really enjoyed by my team and band of friends and family who had travelled from Bristol in support (thanks guys)!The two remaining Golf races of the day were fairly quiet affairs for me with two steady drives to 7th and 6th positions. On both occasions just a second or so behind the leading and increasingly fierce battle for the podium positions! As the second race wore on the handling of my car began to deteriorate dramatically, with huge amounts of understeer creeping in. This I put down to a combination of the fact that my tyres were suffering after a full day of abuse and the legacy of the morning’s shunt.Despite the accident Mallory Park proved to be a meeting that I really enjoyed, it was also a case (once again) of what might have been!
