Snetterton race report page 4After getting a great run out of the final chicane “Russell” I was tucked right in behind Andy Burgess approaching the very fast 4th gear first corner. This corner normally only requires a slight dab of the brakes in the golf but figured that if I could get away with slightly less than even a dab I might be in with a shout! So after “hurling” my car up the inside of Andy into Richies it wasn’t really a great surprise to find myself past and into third position but also running very quickly out of road as a result! I tried to block Andy by slowing the car a little in the vain hope that he might fall prey to the closely following John’s (Hillon and Mawdsley). Indeed John Hillon did get past Andy but he also had enough momentum to draw alongside me as well and with Andy Burgess having now recovered some of his own momentum we entered the main straight three abreast with me piggy in the middle! Once again thinking of that signature I was the first to back out entering the Essses and therefore dropped back to fifth. It was in the position that I remained until the completion of the race. Not quite the podium it could have been but still a good result to start the season off with. With two top ten results in the bag and lap times as quick as the front runners in the very competitive championship I now head to Brands Hatch with some expectations and this time no excuse of signatures to collect!
